Glass panels

After the panel lines had been scribed I remasked the glass areas and painted it with glossy black.

Panel lines

Not so easy to get those lines just right by sight, but that's how the model has been made from the start. So patience and consistency are characteristics worth having.

Panel lines

With a 3mm 3M design tape I started to scribe some panel lines.

First coats of white

After a very long time here it is in white.

This is after a few basecoats. So it's not as white as it should be just yet.

Nordic Ferrari

Is red really a privilege just for Ferrari?
I'm testing some colour combinations and looking for overall imperfections from the reflective paint, but I can't really tell what I think about the red paint on this car... Right now I'm thinking that white is still the way to go.

Inspiring work

Haven't been building the model for a while and even longer haven't written about it. It's not a buried project though. Not sure if I have mentioned some very useful and inspiring sources that I have found and kept myself up to date to.

It's automotiveforums.com and more specificly Modeling sub-forum
There are some very good scratch-built projects that I'd like to share:

1/8 Porsche 908/03
1/12 Zakspeed Turbo Capri
1/8 Talbot Lago t26c
1/8 Ford GT40 Mk1

Some progress

Small steps that take a lot of effort. I have managed to fabricate all 4 tires and all 4 rims. The tires need painting and so does the last 2 rims. But the good thing is that now I have all the equipment and some practice for finishing them.

The second update covers the brakes. Firstly - all 4 are done :) Secondly they have a new finish so they would stand out a bit more than the black version. After all, I put a lot of effort into them. But the mat gold finish is not too flashy and replicates the Brembo calipers that I had for reference pretty good. Just the red sticker missing right now.

The two little air intakes next to the headlights are also being made ;)

Aero-X headlights

It's also time to make the headlights, because the templates must be made before painting. The templates are pretty much done and wait for vacuum forming.

The headlight cover will be molded from clear styrene sheet.

The Brembo-X brake discs

The "first edition" carbon ceramic brakes were good, but there's a new version - The Brembo-X!
It has a finer, "second generation compound" and a new aluminum bell. Now it stops as good as it goes :D

Dual Exhaust pipe

Got the urge to make the exhaust pipe. Actually it's necessary so I could dry-fit the backend before painting.

It's still to be filed into shape and painted with alclad polished aluminum.

Dunlop tire tread

Somehow i'd have to make this tread for the tires. Custom carving tool has to be made or some other method figured out for that.

Dunlop tires

Found a way making the tires. Material used is hi dense styrofoam. After sanding with 400 grit sandpaper the texture is spot on. It will have to be painted and for that I'm using PVA glue and water based paint mixture. PVA also protects the soft styrofoam surface from scratches.

Carbon Ceramic brake disc

Here is my attempt to replicate carbon ceramic surface for the brake disc.

Here is an interesting video of how carbon ceramic brakes are made:

Brembo carbon ceramic brakes

Aero-X has Brembo brakes with 380mm carbon brake discs all round. This model will
not be any different.

Finishing the fabrication of the wheel

Very time consuming task to finish off the spokes one by one.
